6 Ways To Prepare For Dance Class

0

As we approach the start of our Fall 2021-22 dance session, you may be wondering if your child is fully prepared for class. Here’s a checklist of everything your child will need in order to rock his or her first day of dance!

1. Purchase Proper Dance Shoes

Purchasing your child’s dance shoes before the first day of class will ensure a stress-free first day experience. Sizing for dance shoes can run very different from street shoes, so bring your dancer with you to be fitted properly. Both Impact Dance Studio locations will be open this week and are fully stocked with all tap, jazz, and ballet shoes! Please refer to our Google listing for updated business hours. Don’t forget to write your dancer’s first name and last initial on the bottom of all shoes!

2. Choose Your Dance Outfit

At Impact, dancers are asked to adhere to our Dress Code specific to each class style in order to ensure comfortable movement and provide class unity. Our Pre-Dancers wear a uniform, which consists of a leotard with an attached skirt (Pink for Pre-Dance, Black for Kinder Combo). These are available for purchase at both Impact locations, along with a variety of tights and dancewear for all ages and styles! Please refer to our website for detailed a Dress Code for each style. Jeans will not be allowed in any class!

3. Secure My Hair

Dancers of all ages should secure their hair up and away from the face as much as possible. Ponytails are allowed, so long as they are secure with no fly-aways. A bun is required for all Ballet classes. Hairspray, clips, bobby pins, and hair nets are a dancer’s best friend when it comes to crafting the perfect hairstyle for dance class! Keep in mind, hair should never be a distraction or need readjusting during class.

4. Bring A Water Bottle

It’s important for dancers to stay hydrated while taking class, so we recommend dancers bring a water bottle with their name clearly labeled. Even our youngest dancers can work up a sweat! Only water will be allowed in the dance room (please no juice or energy drinks.)

5. Arrive 10 Minutes Early

Plan on arriving at least 10 minutes prior to class time, especially on the first day of dance. This will allow dancers time to find their studio, place their belongings in a cubby, and use the restroom before class.

6. Relax and Have Fun!

It’s completely normal to experience those first-day jitters! Our teachers are excited and ready to provide a fun and engaging atmosphere to learn. Take a few deep breaths, relax, and HAVE FUN! We’re so excited for your child to join us this season and look forward to another wonderful year of dance!
